Green House
city . New Orleans, Louisiana.
program .
The design is a reinterpretation of the New Orleans's home styles. This small house portrays elements of the New Orleans outdoor and indoor characteristic such as: porches, courtyards, full length windows, fan transom windows, iron balconies, and galleries. The building is visualized in two parts: solid and void. The solid part represents the 812 sq. ft. small, affordable, green house, and the void part represents a side courtyard. The house provides outdoor spaces on the ground for relaxing and social interactions. The front porch becomes a social space for neighborhood residents. The design allows access to the building on the north facade by a stair and also on the west facade through ADA ramp. The house has to be elevated + 8'-0" for flood safety reasons.
